Arc Association: IranianPolicies Threaten 15 Million  Azerbaijanis and Lead to Lake Urmia’s Demise”

In the session of the United Nations Human Rights Council held on September 21, 2023, under the agenda item concerning the promotion and protection of all human rights, including civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights, as well as the right to development, the President addressed a pressing issue.

Association for Human Rights of Azerbaijanis in Iran #ArcDH  highlighted the violations by the Iranian government against minority nations and, in particular, the Azerbaijani population. He pointed out that Iran’s policies have led to detrimental consequences, including mass migration, the collapse of industries, environmental disasters, and frequent disruptions in water and electricity supply. The scarcity of drinking water in numerous villages has also fueled conflicts, violating the Azerbaijani people’s right to a sustainable environment and leading to widespread protests.

Arc Association Iran’s policies have ultimately resulted in the death of Lake Urmia, and now, alarming concerns are being raised about impending salt storms. Authorities propose that the only way to save the lives of 15 million Azerbaijanis is through their forced migration from their ancestral homes. As a result, countless Azerbaijanis are already suffering from respiratory diseases, eye irritation, lung cancers, and skin cancers.
